    SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Higher Level Teaching Assistant

    Our ideal SEMH HLTA might already have experience in a mainstream secondary school setting, or you might have worked with children and young people with behavioural difficulties in other settings.

    We welcome applications from colleagues with primary or secondary experience who are versatile enough to deliver a range of subjects.

    Our approach at South Wolds is to find the right people, with the right attitude and personality, and we will train you to work with the rest of our staff to ensure all students are supported and able to achieve.

    Applicants should be creative and resilient, ready to get stuck into everything, and work as a team and independently.

    You will need to be someone who is happy to do whatever it takes to ensure that all students make great progress academically as well as with their SEMH differences.


    We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference with children and young people, who enjoys spending time with them, and who is excited to share learning with them.

    You will need to be someone who is able to stay calm under pressure, and maintain positive relationships with young people who may display challenging behaviour.

    At South Wolds we believe that all behaviour is communication, and that children who present with challenging behaviour need additional care and support.

    We believe in taking a trauma-informed, relational approach, as the majority of students you will be working with have had adverse childhood experiences.

    The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
