The Department


We are seeking a motivated Senior Associate to join the Cross-cutting Market Analysis and Strategy department in the Payments and Digital Assets Directorate.


The Department performs an integral role in defining the FCA strategies for Payments and Digital assets, designing and implementing data strategy, identifying, and managing risk, training, external engagement, horizon scanning and proactive identification of trends, amongst other things.


The Department comprises the payments sector team and the digital assets sector team and works closely with colleagues in the Payment and Digital Assets policy and market interventions departments as well as more widely across the FCA.

What will you be doing?

  • Delivering workstreams to shape and develop the strategies and the delivery of the strategies across the FCA for Open Banking
  • Contributing to the delivery of an effective stakeholder engagement strategy both internally and externally
  • Effectively engaging with key external stakeholders including other regulators/authorities and trade associations
  • Maintaining good relations with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including supervisors, policy specialists and other sector teams
  • Researching information and making recommendations based on the information
  • Being part of a high performing team

The skills and experience you will have

Minimum

  • Experience of working in the payments sector for either a regulated firm, public body, or consultancy
  • Experience of delivering strategy related projects and awareness of risk management in a regulated environment
  • Evidence of strong written communication skills
Essential

  • Knowledge of Open Banking and the payments sector
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, supporting robust recommendations you will be proficient at analysing complex information or data; and exercising robust, consistent judgements that balance a range of opposing factors
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Ability to work with pace and under pressure, using sound judgement and escalating issues appropriately
  • Experience of balancing and managing opposing priorities, working selfdirected and in a team
