North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is offering you the best opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking team of specialist physicians based at Peterborough City Hospital. Cross site working will be expected at all the Trust's sites.
The Ophthalmology Department is self-contained within the Head & Neck section. The unit contains outpatient consulting and treatment rooms, administrative areas, and a dedicated operating theatre complex comprising two theatres, each with ceiling-mounted microscopes. This dedicated theatre set-up has enabled the department to achieve a day case rate of 98%.
As our new Speciality Doctor, you will provide high-standard care within the outpatient clinics, as well as being responsible for the management of the clinics ensuring that the services run smoothly, and they are covered during the periods of planned absence.
You should be fully registered with GMC, successfully completed ST1-2 post or equivalent, and have at least 6 months previous experience in Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job
The Job plan has been created to include 10 PAs per week.
In addition to attending the outpatient clinics, you will participate in episodes of shared care which requires you to provide advice and support to clinicians in other services with regard to patients who may have a combination of ocular problems.
All members of medical staff are expected to participate in clinical governance and audit, to meet annual training requirements, and to satisfy the annual requirements for continuous professional development as set out by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. In addition, you will participate in the Trust's Appraisal Scheme.
As part of your role, you are expected to adhere to Trust policies and procedures which are designed to guide you in your work and ensure that the Trust, and you as an individual, comply with legal requirements.
