Business Risk Manager
Are you an experienced Business Risk Manager?

Do you have solid experience working within Asset Management/ Investment Management?

We are currently recruiting a Business Risk Manager to join the Business Risk team in our London office.

The role is responsible for the ongoing, operational implementation of Ruffer's risk management framework as well as for the design, implementation,and delivery of a third-party risk oversight framework.

Our Business Risk team has wide range of responsibilities, all aimed at providing a strong operational risk function. They are involved in both the operational day to day and governance of the business. Involvement with and contribution to all team responsibilitieswill be expected within this role.


Key tasks include:

Ownership and delivery of Ruffer's operational risk management framework including:
Oversight of the identification of risk and mitigating controls
Independently assessing inherent and residual risk
Monitoring and reporting on key risk indicators

Ownership and delivery of Ruffer's third party risk oversight framework including:
Liaising across the business to identify, understand and risk assess all third party relationships.

Oversight of due diligence procedures at inception and on an ongoing basis, identifying gaps and working with the business to provide complete, accurate anduseful reports.

Managers in the risk team are expected to work collaboratively across the organisation, building strong relationships and providing effective leadership within project teams.

Strengthening a sense of 'one team', encouraging collaboration and positive working relationships between the team and the Firm.

Regulation and Standards:

Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations and standards and explaining this to stakeholders
Development of external network to understand industry norms and standards


Skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications
The individual is expected to demonstrate the following, working with our clients and colleagues:

  • At least five years of risk oversight or related experience
  • Intellectual curiosity desire to learn about new areas of the business or industry, understand requirements and translate them to the Ruffer business
  • A strong interest in third party oversight
  • An ability to work collaboratively across the business with excellent people and communication skills
  • A "self starter" who can bring and debate new and topical ideas
  • An understanding of the relevant standards and regulations and an ability to weave these into a commercial framework
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn

Please note Ruffer operates a hybrid working policy 3 days a week in the office and 2 days at home.
