  • We are currently recruiting a Financial Crime Consultant to join our team on a 9month FTC basis.

In this role, you will support the Head of Financial Crime for LGC & LGRI in executing the second line oversight of Financial Crime risk management within the two Divisions.


Financial crime risk management within L&G covers the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing, sanctions, bribery and corruption, tax evasion, fraud, and market abuse.


The LGC & LGRI financial crime team provide advice and oversight in respect of a wide range of business activities including regulated financial services, residential and commercial property development, and residential sales and letting.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing second line financial crime risk management advice and support to the LGC & LGRI business teams and operating businesses, ensuring that their activities are in compliance with divisional standards and local laws and regulations
  • Performing and supporting the daily activity of the LGC & LGRI Financial Crime team, which includes but is not limited to: business advisory, review and comment on MI, assurance and oversight, annual and ad hoc financial crime risk assessments, review of higher risk relationships and screening escalations, conducting investigations, and delivering training.
  • Supporting the business teams and operating businesses with the implementation of the new Divisional Financial Crime Framework.
  • Working collaboratively with L&G Group functions, business areas, and operating businesses to ensure that risk management activity is appropriate for the LGC and LGRI business and clearly documented
  • Providing ongoing support to and oversight of the business in respect of implementation of new requirements as a result of new regulation or Group Financial Crime policy.
  • Treating Customers Fairly: take responsibility to ensure that the needs of our customers internally and externally are met and are in line with Legal and General's Customer Experience and Treating Customer's Fairly Policy
  • Supporting the delivery of wider risk team activity
What we're looking for

  • ICA Diploma in Financial Crime or equivalent desirable but not essential if relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of the UK regulatory and legal framework with respect to financial crime
  • Knowledge of the some or all the following sectors useful:
  • Pensions and Insurance industry
  • Private equity & venture capital
  • Commercial and residential property development
  • Knowledge of financial crime risk management and business controls
  • Understanding of financial crime within the residential and commercial property industry, reinsurance or pension risk transfer business advantageous
  • Strong problemsolving skills
  • Ability to question and challenge the business
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret legislation, regulation, and internal policy into practical and appropriate risk management solutions.
