    Position: EDS CAD Engineer

    Location: Woking, Surrey

    Position Type: Contract

    Outside IR35

    Job Description

    As EDS CAD Engineers, your main responsibilities are:

    • Essential Criteria: Design and 3D drafting in Catia V5 using the Harness Tool.
    • 3D data management using Teamcenter.
    • Package investigations and development of solutions to EDS related package issues.
    • Adhere to Customer specifications and requirements while developing designs.
    • Adhere to internal specifications and requirements while developing designs.
    • Timely implementation of design changes during program development, prototype and production build phases
    • Review designs with customer manufacturing team to ensure feasibility for instillation into vehicle, including using all design process.
    • Ensure EDS routing and package design is compatible with vehicle environment.
    • Prepare marked up 2D drawings to support design changes, Check 2D drawings are in-line with the planned design prior to release.
    • Participate in internal and customer meetings to support EDS design and development.
    • Support design reviews, prototype harness and vehicle builds at company and customer locations. Identify, track and resolve EDS design and manufacturing issues.
    • Participate in cost & weight benchmarking activities.
    • Generate, review and evaluate potential cost reduction ideas.
    • Carry out CAD assembly investigations together with the responsible project engineers in virtual vehicle assembly rooms and preparation of the corresponding documentation.

    Skills Required

    • Essential Criteria Continued
    • Preparation of 3D CAD design drafts for wiring harness components, e.g. cable channels, brackets and fixing parts as a basis for the detail design by the component supplier.
    • Lead DFM design checks and interface with manufacturing plants to resolve noncompliance issues 2D drawings through the design & serial production phases.
    • Work with EDS manufacturing plants to exchange information and to ensure feasibility and optimisation of design.
    • Initiate NCRs (New Component Requests) and interface with Advanced Purchasing, Advanced Supplier Development, Provisional Component Engineering, and Components team for the development and approval of new-tooled components
    • Communicate to customer the content and status of the design, design changes, and build requirements.
