Sustainable Lending Analyst - London, United Kingdom - Barclays

    Default job background
    Description

    Sustainable Lending Analyst
    London

As a Barclays Sustainable Lending Analyst, you will have the chance to join the Climate Portfolio Management team within the wider Sustainable Finance business. In March 2020, we announced our ambition to be a net zero bank by 2050, becoming one of the first banks to do so. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive the sustainable returns of our Corporate client base in light of complex regulatory, commercial and organisational constraints and commitments through helping to design and build policies and tools to implement our strategy.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

    What will you be doing?

    • Identifying opportunities for new client and portfolio insights through use of statistical and qualitative analysis

    • Engaging in and closely follow market developments with regards to industry and sector decarbonisation initiatives and plans and have a view on these

    • Conducting short notice on-demand analysis for senior management with creation & quick iterations of presentations to support insights

    • Supporting the build out and integration of tools used to support Front Office decision making around Sustainable client profitability to enhance RoE

    • Collaborating with the Group Sustainability team and other ESG / Sustainability aligned teams across Barclays in order to implement and track optimisation initiatives

    • Supporting execution and optimisation of structured ESG portfolio transactions or initiatives to meet Portfolio Management objectives

    • Supporting the firm's strategic response to Sustainability related regulatory initiatives by analysing the impact on financial resources and identifying means to manage it

    What we're looking for:

    • Understanding of financial metrics (P&L, MtM, LBS, RWAs, funding) and risk metrics, track record in prising actionable insights from large and complex financial data sets

    • Experience of developing tools (pricing/reporting/scenario analysis/analytics) to support decision making, an exceptional communicator of complex concepts at different levels

    • Excellent and demonstrable analytical, design and problem solving skills with ability to prioritise and pivot seamlessly between tasks

    • Data mining hands-on experience of manipulating/transforming/processing large data sets using SQL or similar technologies (e.g. Python)

Skills that will help you in the role:

    • Knowledge and understanding of the macroeconomic landscape including key themes under ESG

    • Demonstrable experience of working effectively with technology teams to deliver on projects

    • Experience of other programming languages, e.g. Python, R, SAS etc

    • Some credit skills & regulatory knowledge

    Where will you be working?
In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
