An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our expanding Hand Therapy team.

Main duties of the job We are looking for an enthusiastic Hand Therapist with experience in Hand trauma to work within our dynamic and progressive multidisciplinary team service. This exciting new post is set across the Royal Free Hampstead and North Middlesex hospitals and the postholder will work closely with our Orthopaedic teams to develop this new across site service. As sole practitioner at North Middlesex hospital you will be responsible for the efficient running of this new Hand Therapy service and work closely alongside the Orthopaedic MDT gaining significant experience in the management of Hand Trauma and post operative Elective Hand surgery. This brand-new post will be fully integrated with our large team of Hand therapists led by our Clinical Lead Hand therapist and which includes a Consultant Hand therapist and Advanced Clinical Practice Hand therapists. We have a well-structured continual professional development programme combining regular in-service training, journal reviews, practical training sessions, supervision, and a frequent Complex Hand MDT meeting. oDemonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values

Education & professional Qualifications Essential

oBSc Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
oHealth and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration for profession
oEvidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development in specialist clinical area
oMembership of BAHT and evidence of working towards achieving Accreditation

Experience Essential

oSubstantial postgraduate experience at a Band 6 level including at least 3 years within Hand Therapy
oKnowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches for the management of patients within specialist clinical area
oAwareness of many approaches of treating hand Trauma
oExperience of delivering a range of Hand Rehabilitation Programmes
oExperience of group work
oExperience of helping patients rehabilitate despite the presence of severe ongoing pain and associated psychological consequences.
oExperience in managing distressed patients.
oPrevious experience of junior staff & student supervision/ clinical education
oExperience of leading a team
oExperience of clinical audit and/or research
oExperience of teaching to uni-disciplinary/ multidisciplinary groups
oEvidence of active involvement in service development & contribution to change within the workplace.

Skills and aptitudes Essential

oExcellent communication skills with a range of patients and healthcare professionals regarding complex and sensitive issues
oHighly effective written communication skills
