About elvira bognanni:

hello , my name is Elvira and I'm just getting started in the world of audio technology. I've always loved music and being around live shows, so when I had the chance to take an audio production course last year, I jumped at it.

To be honest, before that class I didn't know the first thing about setting up microphones, mixing boards, or any of the gear audio techs use. It was pretty intimidating at first seeing all those knobs, sliders and cables. But my instructor was really great at breaking everything down step-by-step.

We started off learning about the different types of microphones and how to properly place them to pick up sound sources. I got hands-on practice with condensers, dynamics, ribbons - you name it. Setting the right mic patterns and distances was key to capturing clean audio.

From there, we dived into the mixing consoles and DAW software. Sending inputs to the right channels, adjusting EQ, adding effects like reverb and compression - there's an art to getting that perfect mix. It's definitely a learning process, but I've gotten more comfortable operating different mixers and building sessions in Pro Tools.

Outside of the classroom, I've been trying to get as much real-world experience as possible. I volunteered to help with audio for my community theater's last couple productions. Mostly simple stuff like mic'ing actors and getting ambient room mics positioned. But it was awesome being part of the crew bringing those shows to life.

I also did some setup and tear-down for a few local bands' gigs around town. Seeing how quickly those audio engineers can get instruments mic'd up and levels dialed in was pretty impressive. Loud concerts are no joke when it comes to feedback and keeping everything sounding clear.

So yeah, I've got a long way to go before I'm running major arena shows or cutting vocal tracks in a pro studio. But I'm passionate about audio and soaking up as much knowledge as I can from other experienced techs. Breaking into this field is challenging, but with hands-on practice and learning opportunities like this one, I'm stoked to develop my skills further.

I may be newer to audio, but I'll work my butt off, have a positive attitude, and hopefully provide an extra set of hands to any crew I get to be part of. It's going to be an exciting ride!
