Senior, or Principal, Environmental, Permitting & Assessment ConsultantsWe have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or Principal Environmental, Permitting to join our growing Nuclear Division team in our Manchester office.
The Team -Our Nuclear DivisionOur Nuclear Division is well established but still very much a growing team, supporting a wide range of key nuclear projects across the UK, from new build through to decommissioning.
We have a number of exciting projects, ongoing as well as future opportunities, with a wide range of high-profile nuclear clients.
This includes delivery of work through large, long-term frameworks as well as through smaller, bespoke work packages. Helping to manage and deliver nuclear safety packages of work, including overseeing and supporting our delivery teams;this is where we have excelled and our clients have all expressed their appreciation of our approach to relationship building;
Delivering high-quality and bespoke technical and strategic support to our clients;
Mentoring and developing our graduates and other junior staff.
The work we deliver for our clients in support of radioactive waste management spans the entire waste management lifecycle, in which we provide bespoke strategic advice to ensure the UK's radioactive waste management inventory is managed safely.
This ranges from finding innovative solutions to manage a particular waste stream, to developing business cases which could change national policy and strategy.
The work we deliver for our clients in support of environmental permitting and licensing spans the early project lifecycle from feasibility to managing delivery, in which we provide bespoke strategic permitting advice to ensure compliance requirements are identified and considered at an early stage; UK regulatory and policy landscape for the permissioning of nuclear projects, including recent developments in policy and strategy;Environmental management systems within a nuclear licensed company;
Environmental permitting interfaces with the nuclear site licensing and planning regimes.
Radioactive Substances Regulation and other key environmental permits scheduled under the Environmental Permitting Regulations;
Land quality management on nuclear licensed sites.
Working with UK Site License Companies and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (including its subsidiaries);
Waste characterisation and management;
Radiological risk assessment of contamination and behaviour in the environment.
Experience of working with nuclear new build and SMR programmes;
Experience of working with waste producers (e.g. Experience working with Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) and its various work programmes;
Knowledge of international waste management and disposal practices;
Interactions with nuclear and environmental regulators;
Experience, or good understanding of working within a consultancy environment.
Flexible, innovative and proactive approach to working and finding solutions;
Desire to support growth of our radioactive waste management and decommissioning strategy capability.
