    An exciting opportunity has risen for Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse - fixed term, 12 months to join Birch Ward, an Adults Inpatient Eating Disorders Service.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is able to work with the wider MDT, voluntary sector and third sector organisations.

    Wellbeing of patients and colleagues and working collaboratively is essential as we see this as an important aspect to keeping our staff happy at work.

    The team aim is to work in partnership with patients, carers and others utilising the various services and teams we network with to work towards a level of recovery as deemed by the individual.

    Main duties of the job

    Promotes and maintains safety, privacy, and dignity of all patients in the delivery of patient centred care, recognising and respecting differences.

    Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of patient harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the patient.

    Assesses patients including those with complex needs and develops, implements, and evaluates intervention plans as part of the multi-disciplinary team, with the involvement of the patient and where appropriate, their carer.

    Demonstrates safe physical interventions in the management of violence and aggression as required.

    Demonstrates safe moving and handling of patients using equipment as required.

    Ensures all nursing staff, associate practitioners, healthcare assistants and student nurses are accessing appropriate clinical supervision and provides skilled clinical supervision, both individual and group, in a variety of forms such as role modelling and 'live supervision' to staff in the clinical environment.

    Provides training and development to all members of the clinical team, monitoring and evaluating learning outcomes, providing feedback, and assessing competencies to facilitate learning in practice.

    Maintain up to date knowledge and competency in the skills required to perform safely and effectively in the role.

    Undertake relevant training (including statutory and mandatory training).

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    The successful applicant will work with the MDT to support and care for a caseload of patients offering 1:1 interventions, diagnostic assessments, admission processes, MDT care review meetings, supporting nasogastric feeding and nasogastric tube training and competency milestones. Also working closely with occupational therapists, dieticians, and psychologists to ensure patient recovery and directions are supported.

    Although this is an autonomous role the post holder will receive full support via the daily MDT meetings, supervision, and team training. As well as an appraisal to support professional development.

    The successful applicant will also be expected to undertake the role as leader- supporting the clinical team with decision making, complex cases and supervision. Alongside this, supporting the ward manager with meetings, reports, audits, informal complaints and supporting the ward from a leadership perspective when the ward manager is unavailable

    Person specification Qualifications and Experience

    • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
    • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
    • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
    • Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards
    • And achieve within 2 years and Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber
    • And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
    • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
    • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
    • Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
    • Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
    • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
    • Quality improvement activities

    Knowledge

    • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
    • Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
    • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
    • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
    • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
    • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
    • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)
