There will be opportunities to add clinical sessions to the job plan if desired, in discussion and negotiation with the respective clinical service leads for neonates and paediatrics


The post holder will:

  • Develop a sustainable research programme through engagement with national studies, working collaboratively with established PIs within the Trust and Birmingham University
  • Act as Principal Investigator or coinvestigator for research studies
  • Work with the paediatric R&D team to support current research activity in the department, and to develop research capacity.
  • Undertake and maintain appropriate life support training and, in partnership with R&D and CRF senior management and staff, initiate definitive strategies to anticipate and expertly manage medical safety issues, including emergencies;
  • Undertake and maintain GCP training and attend other appropriate training;
  • Participate in the writing, and review, of appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in association with R&D governance;
  • Contribute to the risk assessment and planning of risk mitigation strategies for early phase trials; As a representative of paediatric R&D, develop positive relationships with Sponsors and regional and national research networks;
  • Any other duties as may be deemed reasonable in collaboration with the paediatric team
