YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES You will be joining our Research and Development Finance team, we currently have a team of 5 finance Assistants and 5 Management Accountants.

The Research and Development department manages around 2,000 research projects with an annual income of around £40m.

The role involves working relationships with other members of the R&D Finance team; The Trust's finance Directorate, study managers, administrators, researchers and other research staff.

WHAT YOU WILL DO Assist the team in the production of regular monthly management reports to inform managers of Key Performance Indicators and other monitoring.

Investigate financial queries as requested by budget managers or the R&D finance team. This includes issues about payment of invoices, payroll queries and coding issues. Liaise with budget and grant holders. To raise purchase orders to suppliers.


Assist budget managers and Finance staff by raising invoices within the Oracle financial system Maintain the invoice register, commercial database and other information systems; updating records to identify income retrieval.

Assist the finance team where necessary with ad hoc costing and analysis, which may include designing spreadsheets for own use and team members.

Plan and organise your own work to meet weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial timetables. Cover for team members when appropriate and when necessary.


Undertake any other duties appropriate to grade as requested WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR Experience working in a finance office environment.

With a general ledger, Excel and database experience. The key aptitude and skills are the ability to work tight deadlines.

You must be numerate, analytical and have attention to detail; accurate and timely data input and have the ability to cope with a variety of tasks.

The personal qualities are the ability to cope with pressure; you must be organised and methodical. You must have integrity and be able to follow procedures and guidelines. You must be a strong team player and an excellent communicator.
