YMCA West Sussex Transitional housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people with an age range of 18-35, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness.

We offer a support package alongside the accommodation to actively encourage residents into education, training, employment or voluntary work.

We will work with residents to coach them in life and social skills, enabling them to move successfully into independent accommodation and for them to successfully sustain a tenancy.

The accommodation is mainly shared three-bedroom houses, there are also self-contained units where the residents will be responsible for all their utilities and these properties allow us to offer the support and encouragement to sustain a tenancy.


We are looking for
Support Project Worker to join our fantastic and supportive teams at West Sussex Transitional services working in/around West Sussex.

This role is wide-ranging, rewarding and includes several key responsibilities; you will support a caseload of young people or adults at risk, using a trauma informed and advantage thinking approach to support them in achieving their goals.

Supporting your own caseload of residents, you will need to work proactively, creatively, and effectively alongside young people to develop their assets and talents and to acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives.

You will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the services by providing consistency and reliability.
There will be times when lone working will be a requirement for this role.



This role is based on site - working hours will be Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.


A successful applicant will be a dynamic, flexible individual who is passionate about supporting young people who are at risk to lead independent lives.

You will already be a team player but also able to work on your own initiative.

A successful applicant will love being involved in the support and growth of young people and will be able to actively encourage residents into education, training, and employment.

Ideally, you will have specific knowledge and experience of working with young people leaving care, along with an awareness of all aspects of safeguarding.


It is essential that you hold a current driving license and have access to a car for this role.

YMCA DLG requires all staff and volunteers to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and to respond proactively to safeguarding concerns. Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure (including the Children's barred list and the Adults' barred list) **via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
