We are seeking an experienced and dedicated General Manager to oversee a bustling and independent garden centre and café operations in Devon

Key Responsibilities:

People Management:
Lead and motivate the retail and operations team, fostering a high-performance culture. Ensure staff engagement and development to provide outstanding customer service.

Operational Management:
Oversee daily operations, maintaining high standards and consistency. Manage stock, category ranging, and special orders. Conduct regular site walks to prioritise tasks and ensure operational excellence.

Financial Management:
Drive retail sales growth, improve gross margin profitability, and achieve set KPIs

Training and Development:
Train staff to enhance skills and build a collaborative team spirit

General Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all company policies, including health and safety standards

Key Competencies:

Exceptional customer service skills with a go-the-extra-mile attitudeStrong leadership and communication skillsExcellent organisational and administrative abilitiesIntegrity, honesty, and attention to detailAbility to work under pressure and adapt to changeStrong commercial judgment and computer skillsRequirements:Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within retail and or Proven experience in retail or garden centre management.

A passion for motivating, inspiring, and leading peopleSuccessful history of achieving KPIsAbility to deal confidently with HR related mattersTechnical understanding of plants, gardening, hospitality, and aquatics would be preferable but not essentialCompany Benefits:
