Job Profile
CAFOD requires a Development and Operations Administrator. This role resides in the Technology and Business Analysis Team.

This team provides CAFOD with a number of important systems used by our staff including our CRM system (built on Salesforce, and concerned with our Supporters) and our Project and Programme Management system (built on ASP.NET Core/MS SQL Server, and concerned with our International work).

This role supports the Software Development, Change and Release Management processes across the technical teams and software products in CAFOD, ensures efficient and effective collaboration and operations and helps shape our strategic approach to design and delivery.

This role also support the ongoing use of these systems by our staff.

Key Responsibilities


The Development and Operations Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the Release Management Process is succesfully used by all stakeholders in order to deliver system changes and resulting benefits in a controlled and accountable fashion.

They support End Users and help shape and support the strategic planning in respect of these systems.

Support the team with all aspects of the Software Development Process

  • JIRA administrator, process flows, set up and training.
  • Monitor the flow of work.
  • Support the use of source code control processes.
  • Administration and reporting relating to test release status, risks, budgets and progress.
  • Prepare and communicate Release Plans and Release Notes.
  • Prepare comms for key stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress and dashboards/reporting e.g., for department meetings.
  • Coordinate meetings, set agendas and capture actions and plans.
  • Support the procurement process (getting quotes, processing invoices, updating budget forecasts etc.)
Support the deployed systems

  • Monitor, initial response, review, and allocation of work from helpdesk tickets (software and data incidents).
  • Basic trouble shooting and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Produce documentation to aid troubleshooting and support understanding.
  • Train End Users and demonstrate new features.
  • Monitor back office automated processes and scheduled tasks, consumption and performance metrics etc. to help check the systems are running correctly and within expected tolerances.
Support strategic planning in respect of the systems

  • Help maintain the Road Map for these systems.
  • Admin support for meetings as required.
Collaborate with End Users

  • Monitor End User Issues, providing support to resolve, or raising Change Requests where necessary.
  • Communicate the progress towards resolving Change Requests to End Users and ensure they test end solution changes where appropriate.
  • Communicate to End Users the Systems Releases and included Changes.
  • Ongoing training and documentation for End Users.
Collaborate with Developers

  • Discuss ongoing End User Issues with Developer to seek resolutions or raise Change Requests where necessary.
  • Assist allocation of Change Requests to Developers and make sure the correct Release Process and Source control processes are followed.
  • Support 2way feedback between End Users and Developers in regards End User testing of Changes.
