This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and organisation in a newly created role.

The Big Issue Group Marketing team has an ambitious new remit with a five-year brand strategy, mission and set of impact goals, alongside a recent re-brand.


We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Brand & Campaigns who will be responsible for delivering the communications strategy and plan to drive brand growth and change perceptions.

Working to drive brand relevance, consistency and engagement across all touchpoints.


You will plan and execute a wide variety of external communications activities and work closely with the wider marketing, communications and public affairs team, as well as the Big Issue business units, editorial team and external agencies.


Your daily tasks will include working on:

  • Brand: take the reigns of our rebrand and work to develop a suite of multimedia content to target our audiences over time to change perceptions of the brand and drive brand momentum
  • Campaigns and Planning: Develop and own the Big Issue cross Group annual Marketing & Communications Activity calendar and deliver a cross group communication platform and cross group campaigns e.g Christmas, Big Futures
  • Story Telling: develop and deliver a new impact communications framework executed through our customer journey to deliver against our mission, strengthen our reputation and change perceptions of the brand and work we do
  • Team Management: lead and motivate one direct report and wider agency and freelance network.
  • Stakeholder Management: work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the business so they support with the continued roll out of our new mission, value proposition and rebrand
  • Agency Management: be responsible for the direction, output and performance of our cross group of agencies
  • Research & Insight: lead and develop key pieces of brand and consumer research with external agency partners

Salary and Benefits offered

  • The salary between £50,000 and £55,000 depending on experience
  • Incremental holiday entitlement starting at 25 days per year plus bank holidays (prorata for part time staff) plus paid leave to care for a sick child or grandchild and a sick or elderly relation
