The role holder will work as part of the Business Development team in BMJx to establish, maintain and grow partnerships with the aim of generating revenue for BMJ, UK and Global events, via sponsorship and exhibition activities.


The role holder will work as part of the Business Development team in BMJx, supporting the team with renewal clients, sponsorship transactions and pipeline growth.

This role will act as a support role to senior team members whilst also contributing to team targets.


Responsibilities
Identify and engage with new and existing sponsors of various levels for BMJ events


This includes:

  • Renew and sell sponsorship opportunities with excellent pipeline management
  • Supported by the exhibition booking system, enquiry form and marketing activities, follow up on all inbound leads for exhibition enquiries
  • Support the senior partnerships manager in pitches to new clients
  • Create new proposals and presentations with final sign off from the senior partnerships manager
  • Desk research for pipeline growth
  • Consultative sell approach to customers, to find the customers problems and objectives and be able to portfolio sell across the best of our existing products
  • Provide excellent account management of exhibitors and sponsors to ensure customer relationships are as positive as possible, revenue targets and KPIs are achieved
  • Have a good understanding of the product in order to promote an event to different levels of stakeholders
  • Onsite engagement:
  • Be an onsite contact to all current sponsors and exhibitors
  • Be willing to travel for global conferences

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience consultatively selling event sponsorship packages, ideally in the medical market
  • Proven experience successfully hitting sales targets and delivering revenue growth
  • The role holder requires a good level of literacy
  • Creativity in solving customer problems
  • Proven experience of successfully engaging, influencing and managing a diverse range of senior stakeholders
  • Good sales negotiation skills
  • Good communicator with strong organisational and sales planning skills
  • Resilience and motivation
  • Proven experience with sales reporting and using a CRM platform
  • Experience of successfully working within a high performing team
