Lead Developer (TypeScript, AWS)

Company:
This is an opportunity to join a well-established retail company that is paving the way in e-commerce innovation. They are in the process of expanding their development team and are on the lookout for a talented Lead Developer to help drive their backend development efforts.

Location:
Mostly remote with occasional in-person meetings. A day in the office in Bradford required once a month.

Role Overview:
As a Lead Developer, you will have a crucial role in shaping the architecture, development, and upkeep of their backend systems. You will also be involved in significant integration and migration projects on AWS. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in TypeScript and AWS, with a strong desire to lead a team of 4 developers towards success. This role will involve around 70% hands-on coding and development, with the rest focused on team management, code reviews, and serving as the primary technical resource within the backend team.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable backend solutions utilizing TypeScript and AWS services.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and steer project timelines.
Guide and mentor developers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Conduct regular code reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and performance enhancements.
Serve as a technical bridge between backend development and other departments, offering guidance and assistance as necessary.
Stay informed about the latest technologies and industry trends, advocating for the adoption of new tools and approaches as appropriate.

Advantageous skills:

Experience with BigCommerce and Bloomreach platforms, familiarity with fulfilment and warehouse operations, and exposure to PHP.
