    Job summary

    We are excited to advertise anopportunity to join Navigo CAMHS in a brand new Nurse Specialist role forEating disorders.

    The postholder will take the active lead in developing and embedding; quality, evidencebased, professional care in the service, working closely with amulti-disciplinary team to ensure patients receive the care and treatment theyrequire to promote safe physical and mental health with a specific focus onsupporting eating disorders and providing alternatives to admission tohospital.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful applicant will provide highly specialist advice,guidance, training, therapeutic support and consultation as part of an MDTbased within a CAMHS Community Service. This includes direct provision toservice users using governed psychological intervention, proactive physicalhealth care intervention and monitoring. Contributing to formulation of aservices users need and creating evidence based plans. Consultation andleadership to team colleagues and external health and care professionalsworking with people with eating disorders, and contributing to servicedevelopment, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives for the support andservices for children and young people with disordered eating. The post holderwill support the ongoing development of the alternative to admission pathway, workingin collaboration with, developing and sustaining strong links with our localpaediatric ward and CAMHS Inpatient Units and Local adult eating disorderservices

    Job responsibilities

    Provide aquality highly specialist service to people (and their families/carers)referred to Young Minds Matter.

    Promote thereputation of the service and the development of the alternative to admissionpathway within Community CAMHS team

    Providehighly specialist assessment and intervention for complex mental health needsand to work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise systematicgovernance of practice within the service.

    Contribute tothe proposal, development and implementation of policy and procedures for EDservice.

    Undertakeaudit, service evaluation and contribute to policy and service developmentpertaining to the requirements with service processes including demand andcapacity for different types of initial assessment.

    Will attendclinical service meetings where required to represent ED service.

    Supervisejunior staff and support development.

    Attendtraining and to keep up to date with relevant practice.

    Organiseclinical supervision and lead on service developments within your scope ofpractice.

    Develop andprovide training for stakeholders and other organisations.

    Manage adefined caseload, using evidence based/patient centred practice to assess,plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

    Work as amember of a multidisciplinary team, providing advice to the multidisciplinaryteam as required.

    Workclosely and in collaboration with our local Paediatric Ward, Local CAMHSInpatient Unit and Local Adult eating disorder services to ensure the bestpossible care and outcomes are achieved for Children and Young People and thatservices develop in line with local picture and need.

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Post registration experience of working with eating disorders or within ED setting.
  • Significant experience of supervising junior staff. Able to deliver on the whole range of treatments within the nursing role for people who have an eating disorder
  • Able to lead on and deliver physical health monitoring clinics as required with regards to MARSIPAN guidance
  • Desirable

  • Experience of managing caseloads with children and young people and with eating disorders
  • Experience of working with young people and/or people with mental disorder.
  • Experience in providing support to people in the community.
  • Documented evidence of continuous personal and professional development with reference to eating disorders
  • Additional Criteria

    Essential

  • Able to communicate concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Able to organise own workload according to customers and service need. Able to work independently and use own initiative.
  • Ability to travel independently, sometimes at short notice across the Humber Region.
  • Desirable

  • Ability to involve service users actively in planning and evaluating their care plan/package that promotes their independence and Physical health.
  • Experience in clinical skills such as blood pressure and growth analysis.
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registered mental health nurse or RCN or RN with significant relevant Eating disorder experience
  • Degree or equivalent post registration qualification. Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 12 months relevant to post
  • Desirable

  • Qualification or training specific to the management of Eating Disorders and their comorbidities.
  • Managing behavioural, psychological and general physical health symptoms.

  • Ability to work in partnership with universal services to provide the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ability to work both as a member of a team and autonomously and to manage own and other colleagues anxieties.
  • Ability to meet agreed/ specified service targets.
  • Highly developed communication skills.
  • Ability to delegate whilst maintaining overall responsibility for service users care, where appropriate.
  • Highly motivated and able to engage with service users and carers to improve outcomes.
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge - underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience of working with service users presenting with an eating disorder.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills and indicates a willingness to be trained on the current, Service User electronic records used.
  • Ability to provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information or/and presenting complex, sensitive or contentious information to a large group of staff or members of the public with differing levels of ability, understanding and communication styles.
