This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Clerk to join our team on an acute 15 bedded Head and Neck surgical ward at the Churchill Hospital, as part of the Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust.

The ward area hosts three surgical specialities of plastic surgery, ear, nose and throat and maxillofacial surgery.

The post holder will need to have administrator and have good communication skills. You will need to be organised and have an ability to manage time effectively. You will need to have experience with patient management systems and be prepared to undertake further training as required.


The role will involve meeting and greeting patients and their families arriving on both reception areas, inputting patient details onto the patient administrative system, requesting and tracking patient notes, scanning notes, taking telephone calls, admitting and discharging patients on the patient management systems.


The successful post holder will play a vital role in ensuring clerical and administrative support if maintained and upheld in Specialist Surgery in-Patient.

The post holder expected to have good interpersonal skills and communicate with the multi-disciplinary team. You will be working very closely with all members of staff on the ward.


The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
