We provide early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on a 25-bedded Geriatric Assessment Unit in the Emergency Care Centre of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The performance of this unit has been recognised nationally in the Scottish Care of Older People (SCoOP) Acute Hospital Outcomes report.

There is a strong culture of education, research, quality improvement, and service design within the department. The successful post holder would have ample non-clinical time in the job plan to support delivery against these ambitions.
We have strong links with the University of Aberdeen and an active research team led by Clinical Chair in Medicine of Old Age.

Those potential applicants who are interested in NHS role with clinical research sessions will be supported for their career development and interest for schemes such as NHS Research Scotland Fellowship application.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.
Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
