**Job Description

PURPOSE**A Market Intelligence capability has been established within each of the Commodity Marketing Teams, which supports commercial decision making in each of the commodity teams and across the wider organisation.

The Specialist - Market Analyst PGMs role is as a key member of the team analysing the platinum group metal market.

As a core commodity for the Anglo American group, these metals are of considerable economic importance to the Group and the ability to understand, interpret and communicate different aspects of these markets is vital:
from demand and supply to pricing to future technical developments.

As a result, this role requires a degree of curiosity in order to ask the right questions; strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain the insights gained; and comfort with numbers in order to be able to measure the right data; as well as the creativity and desire to improve both our processes and the team's outcomes.

The aims of our work include improving the Group's strategic understanding of these metals and supporting the commercial team and market development team in building and maintaining relationships with our customer and other stakeholder base through adding value.

We want to judge our success by our ability to become a thought leader on these topics both inside and outside the Anglo American Group.

TYPICAL TASKS

Commercial value generation

Assist with the delivery of market intelligence through the process that includes gathering, collating, filtering, analysing, interpreting market data and intelligence specific to the PGM and precious metals markets.
Capture and communicate collective knowledge gathered from the Sales and Marketing teams as well as other internal and external sources.
Build an understanding of the commercial space in the PGM sector to allow the identification of commercial opportunities.
Conduct monthly & quarterly market analysis used as input into the quarterly market forecasts.
Responsible for the build out of price and other forecasting models to identify arbitrage opportunities.

Stakeholder Management

Act as a key interface with external information & market research providers.
Identify key internal and external stakeholders and support regular targeted communication with these groups, including daily market report.

Specialist Support

Provide back up to the Manager, Market Analysis PGMs in the delivery of market presentations and all other communications to the Marketing, Platinum Business Units, Group Finance and other internal stakeholders.
Support the Manager Market Analysis PGMs in the origination and publication of new research on the platinum group metals through media scanning, ideas generation, writing and editing.

Market Development

Market scanning to determine areas of potential interest for market development or potential collaboration partners.
Developing and delivering messaging on new pgm demand technologies such as hydrogen.
Monitoring and measuring the success of market development activities.
Provide any other ad hoc support to market development efforts where required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Economics or similar disciplines.
Experience in marketing and/or market analysis of the commodity markets and research with a global focus would be welcome.
Well organised with an ability to handle multiple fastmoving requests and projects.
Knowledge of either base or precious metals markets and an industry network preferred.
Knowledge and ability to translate complex market data into succinct reports and presentations to communicate clear messages.
