Description
Working within a small team your primary responsibilities will be undertaking legal research, assisting with the delivery of current awareness services, providing training on legal databases, and assisting with updating the Information Services hub on the firm's SharePoint intranet.
Key Accountabilities
- Undertake legal research delivering fast and high quality information to fee earners using hard copy materials and online resources such as Westlaw, LexisNexis and ilaw
- Assist with the production and delivery of current awareness services as required
- Monitor legal information sites updating the team's rolling news service to fee earners
- Assist with the provision of training to fee earners requiring assistance in their use of online legal databases
- Assist with the updating of the Information Services hub on Keoghs' Intranet using the SharePoint platform
- Contribute to the evaluation of new services and products
- Travel to other offices as required
- Cover for other team members as and when required
- Other tasks as directed
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Work experience within a law firm or other professional services environment
- Experience in using Westlaw, LexisNexis and general online database search methods in an academic or legal industry role is essential
- An understanding of English civil law & procedure
- An ability to summarise legal materials
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word & Excel
- Experience of using Microsoft SharePoint would be an advantage
- Must be methodical and accurate, showing great attention to detail
- Communicates in a clear and concise manner, written and verbal with staff at all levels
- Demonstrate an interest in Library/Information/Knowledge work
- An ability to work to tight deadlines
- Cooperates, collaborates, and works towards common goals with others
- Enjoys change and is enthusiastic about continuous improvement
- Confident and able to function with mínimal supervision
- A flexible approach and an ability to plan and prioritise workloads
