The Trust is delighted to offer theopportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individualto join their Team. The post holder will work primarilyfocus on inpatient dysphasia assessment and management and be involved in theassessment, development and implementation of specialist Speech and LanguageTherapy Treatment.
Main duties of the job
To provideadvice to others regarding the management and care of patients/clients withcommunication, voice and/or feeding andswallowing difficulties
To ensurethat patients are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their careplans wherever possible
Todemonstrate negotiation skills
Todemonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice andoutcome measures
To adaptpractice to meet individual patients circumstances, including due regard forcultural and linguistic differences
Todemonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriatestrategies for caseload management
Excellent communication skills, for example beable to use skills of persuasion, motivation, negotiation and problem solvingwith patients, colleagues in the department, MDT, medical team and otherprofessionals on a daily basis.
Awareness of the appropriate use ofcounselling skills.
Able to analyse complex and highly sensitiveinformation regarding a patients diagnosis.To be able to communicate this information to patients, relatives andcolleagues
Ability to overcome non-compliance of patientsand relatives.
Effective communication skills with people whohave significant and complex communication difficulties eg to convey andreceive accurate information with patients post Head and Neck cancer diagnosis/treatment and/or severe psychological distress.
