    Description
    A leading European Banking group is recruiting for a UK VAT Manager to join their team based in London.

    The role will reporting into the UK Head of Tax and take responsibility for the management and oversight of the group's UK VAT compliance and related advisory work.


    Key responsibilities will include:
    Oversight and delivery of UK VAT Return preparation process of UK branch which includes Leasing and Commercial Finance business lines


    Reviewing and checking the accuracy of the UK VAT Return completed by the VAT Accountant, including PESM and BDR calculations.

    Reviewing balance sheet VAT related reconciliations for UK branch

    Ensuring adequate record retention and compliance with HMRC documentation and process requirements

    Active participation in ongoing MTD process and systems refinements as required

    Providing advisory support in relation to UK branch VAT matters, to include queries from HMRC, to include undertaking initial data gathering, data analysis and relevant fact finding

    Providing guidance and support to the VAT Accountant

    Ssupport the UK Tax team with broader UK VAT group compliance and advisory matters

    Liaison with HMRC as required (e.g. voluntary disclosures)

    Provide support on non VAT related compliance tasks e.g. PAYE Settlement Agreement analysis


    The ideal candidate will be ACA or CTA qualified with 6+ years experience in the preparation/oversight of UK VAT returns and providing ad hoc VAT advice.

    They will need to have strong Excel skills and a working knowledge of Partial Exemption Special Methods as relates to Financial Services (ideally banking).

    Financial Services (ideally banking and, in particular, asset leasing and commercial finance) exposure would be highly desirable.
