    The Opportunity
    The Assistant Supervisor will support the Production Supervisor with overseeing the Production department, the people, and systems in a Modernized Poultry Inspection Program (MPIP) poultry slaughter operation. A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
    • Providing support to the Production Supervisor and Operations Manager for day-to-day responsibilities.
    • Responsible for maintaining quality of product, scheduling and assigning employees, establishing priorities, revising schedules, and resolving problems.
    • Takes initiative and exercises timely and good judgment in day-to-day business decisions.
    • Maintains a safe working environment by coaching employees on safety awareness and leading our safety protocols by example.
    • Maintains a positive employee relations' environment by communicating effectively with peers, employees, and managers.
    • Recognize, support, and commit to the Food Safety promise and facilityMissionstatement
    • Temporary backfill Production Supervisors when required (vacation, illness, vacancy).
    • Assessment of outcome of Modernized Poultry Inspection Program (MPIP) process controls and implementation of Corrective actions to ensure compliance.
    • Evaluate the monitoring results of both MPIP process controls and Preventive Control Plans (PCP) during operations for continuous improvement.
    • Collaboratively work with all employees in achieving objectives in all functions as per current programs in place.
    • Support training initiatives for operations including onboarding of new hires and task specific training as per current program requirements including subsequent updates and/or annual refreshers.
    • Ensuring Production has a sufficient headcount for day-to-day operational needs.
    • Participate and/or complete all verification activities including sampling, submission and walk arounds.
    • All other duties assigned by Management.
    What you will bring:
    The successful candidate will thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. Candidates must have:
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience in a manufacturing facility within the food industry, including experience in Modernized Poultry Inspection Program (MPIP) and/or poultry slaughter operations.
    • Practical working experience in Livestock Health Monitoring Information/Food Animal Information System and Poultry Animal Welfare Programs.
    • Strong leadership ability.
    • Positive attitude.
    • Continuous learner and willingness to embrace change. Experience and commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices and Global Food Safety Initiative and/or MLF Corporate protocols.
    • Experience and commitment to H&S policies
    • Superior communication skills in a multi-cultural environment and the ability to deal with a variety of front-line employee relations issues.
    • A good listener with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Well established organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to successfully use MS Office, SAP, and other computer software application programs necessary for Maple Leaf Operations.
