    Summary

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and well motivated person to join the waste operation services management team covering the operational depots at Ferndown, Blandford and Shaftesbury. You will join an operational management which covers all of waste and fleet services across Dorset. We are an active management team which are constantly looking at ways to enhance our services to the residents, businesses and visitors to Dorset.

    What you will be doing

    You will manage the day to day operational activities and be responsible for allocating appropriate staffing, vehicles and other resources required to ensure that the waste, recycling, street cleansing, related commercial services operate in the most efficient and economic manner.
    You will bring experience and knowledge in road transport operations to to be a one of several named Transport Managers on the council's vehicle operating licence ensuring compliance with the requirement operating large goods vehicles on the roads of Dorset.
    You will respond to and resolve complex complaints from elected members and town/parish councils, the public, local authority partners, other partner organisations and suppliers, identifying and implementing any required improvements to services.

    The experience, knowledge and skills required for this role are specified in the person specification and job description, but we are looking for someone who is organised, flexible and can meet the demands of a front tine operational service across 2 large depots. You will have an eye for detail and ability to work on your own initiative as well as being an effective team member with a "can do " approach. With experience of managing front line operational services in waste and street cleansing with a background of operating large goods vehicles and the requirement of drivers hour and fleet compliance issues. There is a requirement for this post holder to be a named and active Transport Manager on the councils vehicle operating licence and to maintain CPD for a Certificate of Technical Competence in national Road Haulage operations.

    Certificate of Technical Competence in National Road Haulage applies to Grade 14
