Teaching Assistant/Wrap Around Care Play Assistant - United Kingdom - Folkestonegirls

    Default job background
    Part time
    Description

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Teaching Assistant who is also adept at supporting children's play and wrap-around care provision. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping them to strive for their best.

Your numeracy and literacy skills will be strong enough to improve children's standards. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, good sense of humour and be friendly and approachable. Good time management and the ability to work using your own initiative are essential. All applications from experienced Teaching Assistants will be considered and all relevant training will be given to the right candidate.

    Responsibilities may include:

    · Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement of all pupils including, where appropriate, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

    · Actively nurture children's play through OPAL

    · Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities

    · Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures

    · Understand the Early Years curriculum and how to promote learning

    · Use effective questioning to ensure learning moves on for different groups of pupils

    · Provide pastoral care and support for pupils to learn and develop curiosity

    · Support the development of children's basic skills, including physical coordination, speech and communication

    · Work under the direction of the Class Teachers learning both indoors and outdoors

Above all you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child.

We particularly welcome applications from ethnic minority applicants, as they are under-represented within our school workforce.

This is a rolling advertisement and the school reserves the right to close applications, should we find a suitable applicant prior to the closing date being met. It is therefore recommended that applications are submitted as soon as possible.

Working Days: 5 days Monday - Friday term time only

    Hours: 25 hrs per week

    Actual Hours: 12.00 – 5.30pm (with a 30 minutes unpaid break)
