An exciting opportunity has arisen to work collaboratively with the wider Inclusion Service to improve outcomes for Sensory Impaired Children and Young People (SI CYP).This will be achieved by supporting families, settings and schools to raise educational standards and ensuring that children and young people's needs are met within an inclusive environment and the key principles for inclusion are embraced.


As a Specialist Support Assistant you will:
Promote the successful inclusion and learning opportunities of SI CYP in all educational settings.

Demonstrate and promote high expectations for CYP with Sensory Impairment.

Raise awareness of duties and expectations in line with the Equality Act


Support in the provision of coaching, modelling and training as required, to ensure staff have the confidence, capacity and the necessary skills to include and meet the needs of SI CYP in their setting.

Support the implemention of service and national Vision and Audiology Curriculua, promting a strong Deaf or Vision Impaired Identity.

Reflect on and review your practice and consider your professional and personal development in line with the Knowsley Values.

Recognised TA qualification.

Qualification is BSL and/or Braille.

Current full UK driving license or equivalent mobility.

Experience of working with SI CYP.

Evidence of ability to manage resources effectively to meet service priorities.

Evidence of ability to liaise effectively with schools, health, other agencies and parents.

No adverse criminal record.

We will consider requests for flexible working.

For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible:
flexible hours, working from home, compressed hours, part-time.
