    Description

    The post holder will work alongside the TYA lead clinician & nurse, based at the Royal Derby Hospital, to establish close links within cancer services.

    As a local champion for TYA cancer care, they will be required to work as part of the wider regional TYA Service team based at the Principal Treatment Centre (Nottingham University Hospitals).


    Our unit is committed to the care of young people going through a difficult time in their lives we work very closely with Teenage Cancer Trust ensuring we treat the young person and not just the cancer.

    A full and clean driving licence is required and a willingness to travel is essential


    You will need excellent interpersonal skills, senior nursing experience, knowledge of TYA cancers and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams.

    By working alongside the TYA team and Site-Specific Teams you will promote a cohesive approach to developing TYA care within the region, in line with Peer Review Measures.

    We are the 4th busiest Trauma & Orthopaedic outpatients department in England - an average of 2077 per week.

    An average of 1115 patients are seen in A& Es across our network every day - 3rd largest in the country.

    Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres.

    Current NMC registration RN or/and RSCN

    Demonstrable post qualification experience Previous band 6 or equivalent post holder in a relevant area of practice.
    Previous experience at Band 7 in a relevant area of expertise
    Evidence of significant post-registration education relevant to working with young people with cancer.
    Communicates highly complex condition related, sensitive information to patients/ relatives and across the wider healthcare community
