Description
The post holder is required to work as an Advanced Phlebotomist collecting blood samples by venepuncture from patients in a variety of Hospital & Community settings.
While working in the Community setting this post will involve lone working in patients' homes, at off site blood collecting units & INR clinics.
To perform Venepuncture on patients
To co-operate fully with senior staff in order to deliver the highest possible quality Phlebotomy Service to HDFT patients in both the on and off-site Hospital &Community settings.
To provide Phlebotomy cover for extended hours, including weekend & Bank Holiday rotas.
Lone working in patients' homes while being mindful of own & patients' safety at all times.
If patients are found to be unwell this may, on occasion, require liaison with GP / District Nurses / Emergency services.
Manage patient queues & expectations using excellent communication skill to ensure the efficient running of each clinic within the allotted timings.
To communicate clearly with patients the venepuncture procedure that is being done. To try at all times to help the patient remain calm and reassured. To obtain assistance (where available) if required.
To ensure patients ID details are always correct and match the request form before performing venepuncture.
