There is an exciting opportunity for a full time Consultant in Rheumatology and Acute Medicine to join the existing team working across WTWA Hospitals.

This appointment will be made in accordance with the 2003 Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.

The Job Description indicates the main duties of the post, which may be reviewed in the light of experience and developments within service.

Any review will be undertaken in conjunction with the post holder.

This is a full time 10PA post. However, an option of 11/12 PA is available by mutual agreement. Offers of less than than full time work or job shares would also be considered.


The multidisciplinary team includes an Advanced Practitioner, 10 specialist nurses, two specialist pharmacists, two specialist physiotherapy advanced practitioners, a specialist podiatrist and a specialist occupational therapist.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest rheumatology providers in the UK. The Trust is commissioned by NHS England under the specialised rheumatology framework.

Currently, the rheumatology service is organized into two divisions:
Central Manchester (Manchester Royal Infirmary) and Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham (WTWA) divisions. The rheumatology service at North Manchester General Hospital has recently joined the central Manchester division.
