Description
We are seeking to appoint a committed Consultant Cardiothoracic Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Wythenshawe site (although as our service develops and reconfigures, there may be a requirement to work across our other sites).
Wythenshawe is a busy teaching Hospital and a regional centre / tertiary referral site for breast and cardiothoracic surgery.The cardiothoracic department initiated a lung screening programme within Greater Manchester and is a leader in this field, with ample opportunity to be involved in research and innovation.
We also have high volumes of endoscopy and colorectal cancer work and a plastics and GP skin workload.Together with other Consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing subspecialised histopathology for its clinical users (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and local General Practices).
The appointee will have the opportunity to participate in cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in line with their areas of subspecialisation which may involve travel to other sites.
Participate in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training. The Trust is committed to teaching Specialty Trainees in Histopathology under the aegis of HENW (Health Education North West).MFT is England's largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £2.6bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
