Description
Lead the delivery of major corporate activities and events that will enhance the
University's profile and reputation, particularly through the development, delivery
and promotion of stakeholder engagement opportunities.

The post-holder will be confident in operating with and advising the University's
most senior leadership, including the Vice Chancellor, Executive Team and Board
of Governors; highly professional, excellent at project management; and able to
deliver work of a high quality to deadline and with strong attention to detail.

The role holder will be a motivated and organised team-player who is able to
provide clear direction to colleagues and external suppliers.


Key Responsibilities

and Accountabilities:


  • Deliver a programme of high profile corporate projects and facetoface
stakeholder engagement activities, aligned to the business objectives set
out in the University's Strategic Plan.

  • Provide strategic counsel and advice to the Vice Chancellor, Executive
team and other key members of the University community on corporate
events and stakeholder activity, preparing briefings and guidance as
required.

  • Work with the University Secretary and Legal and Governance team to
support the Board of Governors in corporate events and stakeholder
activity.

  • Identify new opportunities and lead corporate activity to support key priority
liaison with the Student Union, Centre for Graduate Prospects and the
Research & Knowledge Exchange team.

  • Collaborate with partners across the City to support key external events in
Sunderland and the region (eg. Sunderland City Run); and create new
opportunities to increase engagement with staff and students in city-life.

  • Responsibility for ensuring a good central understanding of the stakeholder
relationships held across the University, their opinions and concerns, and

supporting relationship holders to keep stakeholders involved and informed
in University business in order to amplify opportunities.

  • In particular, working with the Head of Communications, develop a Board
- level stakeholder engagement plan to maximise their existing relationships.

  • Deputise for the Head of Communications on corporate events and
stakeholder engagement as and when required.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships:


  • A qualification in project management or significant relevant experience
within a similar role.


Experience:


  • Demonstrable experience in project management with a trackrecord for
achieving successful outcomes, using an organised approach to track
progress, ensure accurate delivery on time / in budget, evaluate success
and prepare reports.

  • Proven experience in successfully and efficiently handling multiple requests
and deadlines while maintaining quality and a high attention to detail.

  • Significant experience of thinking innovatively and responding flexibly to
competing demands within established / tight deadlines and with limited
budget.

  • Demonstrable experience of proactively undertaking research, sourcing
materials and relaying results in a way that is appropriate to the audience.

  • Operational experience in using databases and project management tools.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading projects and working to deadlines.

Key Knowledge and Expertise:


  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience of communicating
with a range of stakeholders and at a senior level, including face to face
and in writing, briefing notes, letters and reports.

  • Able to collaborate effectively with others, maintaining positive and
supportive working relationships to meet shared goals, inspire confidence
and build positive working relationships at all levels, internally and
externally.

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent

Experience:


  • Previous experience of working within the
    Higher Education sector

  • Experience of managing Raiser's Edge databases
