About the role:

Chosen Care Group is currently recruiting Positive Behaviour Support Lead with a least 2 years' experience.

  • Hold a formal qualification in Positive Behaviour Support i.e. BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, MA or MSc in Autism Studies Graduate Diploma, PBS BTEC Level 5 (advanced professional Diploma)
  • Be qualified or willing and able to work towards interventions developed to support individuals with complex behaviour
  • Understand legal frameworks relevant to the role, e.g. Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete behaviour assessment tools and write reports relating to behaviour to a high standard.
  • Have direct support experience with people with learning disabilities and ASC and complex behaviour.
  • Have experience in conducting assessments of complex behaviour and developing, implementing and evaluating interventions for individuals presenting with such needs.
  • Have experience of developing and the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support training.
  • Have experience working as part of a support team providing supporting individuals with complex behaviour.
  • A history of reducing the use of restrictive practices.

Main duties:


  • Work with individuals with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders to conduct functional behaviour assessments and develop individualised positive behaviour support to promote positive outcomes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive, evidencebased positive behaviour support strategies and interventions to reduce challenging behaviours and increase adaptive behaviours and increase adaptive behaviours as part of a positive behavioural support plan.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff on the principles and practices of positive behaviour support and related interventions designed to promote quality of life.
  • Ensure that all behaviour support plans and interventions comply with relevant legislation, policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support plans and interventions and make necessary modifications
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of behaviour support plans, interventions and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with families multidisciplinary team members, including psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and in the development and implementation of the PBS plan.
  • Keep uptodate with current research and best practices in the field of positive behaviour, including the PBS Academy Quality Framework, Building the Right Support.
  • Promote a valuebased, personcentred, inclusive work environment that values diversity and respects individual rights and choices.
