    A fantastic opportunity has arisen within HMP Altcourse to join our prisons Psychology team as a Forensic Psychologist in Training (FPiT).

    As the Forensic Psychologist in Training (FPiT), you will help to develop and promote the psychological services within the Prison and work collaboratively with the Psychology team and external stakeholders.

    You will support staff with their caseloads, whilst also maintaining direct contact with prisoners with complex needs including personality disorders, and serious offending histories.

    To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must have a degree conferring Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and able to provide proof of successful completion of an academic component of training towards registered status.

    This must be a BPS accredited MSc in Forensic Psychology or the BPS Qualification in Forensic Psychology (Stage 1).

    Participating in processes where an individual's risk of harm to self or others is determined and managed i.e. attending Assessment Care in Custody Teamwork (ACCT) meetings for prisoners and providing advice and support to prisoners and staff.

    Offer advice on the location of a prisoner (both within the establishment or potential relocation to another category establishment).

    The Ideal Candidate Whilst we encourage all applicants to apply for this role, candidates will be expected to enrol on one of the contracted accredited Qualifications in forensic psychology which will support them to achieve registered forensic psychologist status with the HCPC.
