Link to Change are pleased to recruit for the role of Early-Intervention Specialist Exploitation Worker.


This post is an initial 12 month funded contract.


We are seeking someone who can work in a multi-agency and community setting, alongside professionals from social care, the police services and the voluntary sector.

The role entails safeguarding vulnerable young people from child exploitation and helping them to rebuild their lives.

Experience in engaging hard to reach children and young people aged 7 to 26 years and delivering training sessions are necessary skills.

A qualification in youth work, social care or equivalent is preferred.

You will support the planning and delivery of our participation group and youth led projects.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

  • A recognised qualification in social care/youth work/health/ or related area
  • Proven experience in the area of social care/youth work/heath/related area
  • A good knowledge of child exploitation
  • Local knowledge of existing local services
  • Proven experience of outreach work, preferably within a community setting
  • Experience of inter agency liaison and statutory partnership working
  • Experience and understanding of equality and diversity issues
  • Experience of delivering group work and training
  • Experience of working with children and young adults (726 years)
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE

  • Skilled in working with young people and families
  • Ability to deliver targeted groupwork programmes to children and young people
  • Ability to deliver information workshops to large groups
  • Ability to deliver solutions focused support services
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with service users & professionals, on occasions working in close liaison with other service providers to deliver interventions to clients
  • Understanding and working knowledge of earlyintervention provisions
  • Knowledge of child protection and vulnerable adult legislation
  • Good listening skills
  • Understanding of housing issues/homelessness for young people
  • Understanding LGBT issues facing young people
  • Knowledge of current developments within child exploitation, trafficking and modernday slavery fields
  • Knowledge of service networks including statutory health & mental health services, substance misuse, benefits, housing, employment etc
  • Ability to be flexible over delivery and working hours (including evenings and weekends)
  • Ability to discuss sexual health issues in a nonjudgemental and nondiscriminatory manner
  • Ability to prioritise, plan, monitor and evaluate work
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with a range of workers and organisations, presenting a professional image of self and agency
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to prioritise work in liaison with line manager
  • Ability to work well within a team

Job Types:

£24,000.00-£25,463.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
Staff are currently delivering both face to face and virtual support. This is under constant review in line with government guidelines.
