    Job summary

    We are seeking for a Community Child Health and Child Neurodevelopmental paediatric consultant to join our dynamic and friendly department at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.

    This post is for Community paediatrician especially with interest in Neurodisability and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Social Communication Disorders and Social Paediatrics. The successful applicant will join our team providing excellent care to our local children and families.

    The post is for 10 PA to start as soon as possible from September 2024.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will be a paediatrician trained to consultant level in all aspects of community paediatrics including training/experience in neurodevelopment.

    The post holder will participate in the day time Child protection on-call rota. The post holder will be competent to deal with all aspects of child protection related to his/her caseload and will provide advice/supervision to junior colleagues as necessary

    Will provide consultant paediatric input for social communication assessments in the preschool social communication pathway and the school age social communication pathway

    Will provide consultant paediatric input for neurodevelopmental clinics within a multidisciplinary team

    Will contribute to and support the clinical governance programme of the Trust

    Will contribute to the undergraduate medical teaching programme

    Individual posts will also include specified roles from the Departmental job plan, to be discussed at interview

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • On GMC's specialist Register in paediatrics, CCT/CCST in Community Paediatric medicine or a UK specialist trainee within 6 months of CCT/CCST on interview date
  • Desirable

  • MD or other Higher degree
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Wide experience in community paediatrics including Social communication assessments, neurodisability and child protection.
  • Level 3 Safeguarding Training
  • Experience of teaching to meet the requirements of junior doctors and nurses
  • Desirable

  • Skills and training in a sub specialty which could benefit the department
  • Griffiths developmental assessment qualification and experience
  • Autism Diagnostic interview or 3DI qualification and experience
