    Description

    SCOR's Global Longevity team is already a leader in the longevity reinsurance market. We have developed expertise in the UK bulk de-risking market over the past decade providing longevity protection to insurers and pension schemes to help them keep their financial promises to annuitants and pensioners. We have also developed expertise in the individual annuity market with a focus on the use of medical underwriting and our technical knowhow enables us to price longevity for a range of different health conditions at retirement. Our success has not been limited to the UK market as we have also played a pioneering role in international territories in Europe and North America.

    This is a new role within the Global Longevity Pricing team. This role has a wide range of exposures (in UK and international markets) including technical pricing for Longevity tenders, new product proposition development, new business approvals from SCOR Global Life and Group functions, new deal execution, pricing tool and process development, research projects of demographic assumption derivation and client relationship management.

    Some of the key areas of involvement will be as follows;

  • You will be contributing to all aspects of understanding, pricing and managing longevity reinsurance risks, enhancing SGL Global Longevity team's ability to write profitable new business in the UK and international markets.
  • You will produce technical pricing for Longevity tenders (UK and international) which includes experience analysis, proposal of basis, rate production, KPI metrics, and supporting documentation.
  • Lead/support the technical development of UK and international new products/propositions.
  • Support the Head of Pricing on business referrals with Group sign-off teams based in Paris, Cologne and Ireland.
  • Support new business execution.
  • Lead/support the maintenance and development of Longevity pricing processes and tools.
  • Lead/support research and ad-hoc projects.
  • Assist in the development of team members.

    • The key areas of responsibility will be as follows:

    Quote Production

  • Lead the production of quote tenders including the production of quote pricing basis (base table, improvements, marriage assumptions and KPI metrics).
  • Produce accurate rates within specified timeframes and accurate documentation to support quotes.
  • Ensure pricing basis conforms with SCOR Global Life Annuity pricing guidelines and that key pricing issues/ risks are highlighted early.
  • Support the Head of Pricing on business referrals with Group sign-off teams based in Paris, Cologne and Ireland.
  • Support new business execution.

    • New product and proposition development

  • Lead/support the technical development of new products/ propositions.

    • Pricing Process and Tools

  • Lead/support the maintenance and development of Longevity pricing processes and tools to improve the accuracy, efficiency and insight gained from process outputs.
  • Pro-actively suggest improvements to the pricing processes and tools.
  • Ensure process updates are managed in a compliant and documented manner.

    • Research

  • Lead/ assist Longevity research projects.
  • Assist ongoing innovation of pricing basis which enable SCOR to write profitable new business and develop its product offering.

    • Relationships

  • Develop client and internal relationships and provide excellent customer service, to help deliver the Longevity team's objectives.
  • Promote team's technical expertise, internally and externally, help develop team member and educate internal non specialists as necessary.

    • Required experience & competencies

    Essential:

  • Nearly/newly qualified Actuary with pricing or research experience.

    • Desirable:

  • Understanding of pension de-risking offerings in the UK and non-UK markets.
  • Understanding of pension scheme data and typical scheme rules.
  • Client management experience.
  • R experience.
  • Experience of manipulating and analysing large datasets.

    • Personal Competencies:

  • Excellent technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and internal stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent planning and work management skills and experience of leading projects.
  • Excellent ability to use analytical skills combined with sound judgement and commercial awareness to recommend justifiable and practical pricing advice.

  • Flexible and adaptable.

    • Required Education

  • Nearly/newly qualified Actuary.
  • Educated to degree level with excellent academic track record or equivalent experience.
