An exciting opportunity has become available within the integrated Alder Hey and Liverpool Heart and Chest iDigital Service for an Analytics Lead.

The role will primarily be based at Alder Hey Children's hospital with potential integration in the future.


We are looking for an enthusiastic Analytics Lead to lead the information team at Alder Hey providing the trust with the best analytics and informatics support.

The role will be a key part of the performance of the organisation supporting all departments by providing accurate, up to date and insightful data.

The role will be central to leading the trusts continued transition to Power BI and unlocking the full potential of the wider analytical platform.


With state of the art offices at Liverpool Innovation Park the team operate Agile working, providing you the flexibility to work from home and flexible working times.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic informatics professional.

The role will require in depth analytical skills along with excellent technical abilities in the Microsoft BI stack such as SSRS/Power BI.

Working as an integral member of the integrated Team, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality information and analysis service over a wide and varied agenda to the Trust.

They will prioritise and manage the delivery of information and lead on key areas where they have attained specialist knowledge and experience.


Alder Hey has been officially accredited as a HIMSS Stage 7 hospital and is now working through a strategy refresh.

Alongside this the Trust are upgrading their Electronic Patient Record (Meditech) to the latest version available, maximising our investment in core clinical systems to ensure our staff have the best tools available when providing patient care.

Job Summary:


The post holder will:


  • Responsible for the day to day line management and development of the Analytics team and its relationship with internal and external departments.
  • Responsible for the development of patient based information analysis service to support performance management. This will include ability to develop and implement information solutions and reporting systems in response to the changing performance agenda
  • Manage the provision of accurate, appropriate and timely patient based information using highly complex data sets to support service delivery. This includes the provision of statutory reporting, and performance monitoring to feed into local, organizational and performance frameworks
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice on all aspects of patient based data, provide an expert advice and interpretation service This includes the ability to present complex data to a variety of audiences.
  • The post holder will be required to work in conjunction with the Data Warehouse & BI Solutions Manager to support the development of the Trusts Data Warehouse solution ensuring the delivery of a cohesive, effective business intelligence tool.
  • Set high standards and lead/motivate and manage the team to meet them and the expectations of internal/external stakeholders.
  • Being the lead in Clinical and Quality information reporting and analysis. This will include representing the service at local and external groups and forums eg. CQUIN and Quality Performance groups including Commissioner groups.
  • Being the lead in liaising with specialist and local commissioners, particularly to ensure data challenges/reconciliations are reviewed and concluded as appropriate.
  • Lead in developing the Clinical and Quality Information reporting agenda in conjunction will clinical service teams. This will involve developing systems to collect and report data, expert analysis including statistical analysis and expert advice and interpretation service on all aspects of clinical information reporting.
