    Job Details

    Applications are invited for a newly developed (job share) post of Deputy Group Medical Director of Primary Care. This opportunity will be made up of two positions with a shared commitment of 8 sessions per week and will be offered for a 12 month period as a fixed term contract or a secondment opportunity.

    Reporting to the Primary Care Group Medical Director, this is an exciting opportunity for established clinical leaders to gain experience in working with the Primary Care Team and across the Health Board. The successful candidate will support the Group Medical director in building, motivating and developing a team of clinicians to drive forward transformation across the Swansea Bay UHB healthcare community.

    We are looking for two highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Primary Care Team to be amongst a talented group of clinical leadership colleagues who are already currently supporting our clinical teams to achieve the Health Board's vision to become a clinically led, high quality, performing organisation.

    Qualifications
    Essential

  • Qualified Medical professional
  • Unblemished current registration with GMC and license to practice
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Post graduate medical qualifications
  • Evidence of further development in education or training and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Experience and Knowledge
    Essential

  • Actively working as a senior practitioner in a Primary Care/Community setting current licence to practice with the GMC/GDC
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of professional contracts and independent contractor status
  • Extensive knowledge of the strategic issues facing NHS Wales
  • Significant experience in senior Medical Management roles including senior operational leadership role, with experience in medical workforce leadership
  • Organisational change experience/managing difficult and complex change
  • Experience of leading and improving quality and safety of clinical services
  • Ability to undertake sensitive negotiations
  • Successful initiation and facilitation of strategic partnership working and alliances
  • A good understanding of the health and social care management environment in Wales and associated roles and responsibilities
  • A good understanding of performance management methodology
  • Experience of financial management
  • An understanding of the principles of Public Health Medicine that are relevant to, and underpin the work of the UHB, where relevant to the MD role
  • Experience of medical recruitment, workforce and training and education matters
