Plant Operator

CPL Activated Carbons is a market-leading environmental purification company with strengths in water filtration, renewable energy and air treatment. We are a rapidly growing business based on a circular economy model and strong technical capabilities, with sites across the UK, Europe and the United States.
We are looking for a Plant Operator to join the team at our award-winning Carbon Regeneration Plant in Immingham.

This role is key within the production team and heavily involved in Health & Safety, Quality, Process Reporting and the efficient running of the plant.


Key responsibilities:


Production:


  • Control, monitor and alter the plant running parameters, recording all changes in running conditions and highlighting any potential issues, helping to provide a proactive approach towards plant preventative maintenance.
  • Play a part in the safe and efficient running of the Carbon Regen plant, considering the environmental impact of the process releasing to air, water and ground.
  • Assist in plant maintenance activities.

Training and Compliance:


  • Undertake training as required, not operating machinery or mobile plant unless competence has been certified and recorded.
  • Understand the plant environmental constraints and how to identify and report nonconformance.

Safety:


  • Report all incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences in the correct manner to the relevant person.
  • Ensure the safety of self and others when assisting with maintenance tasks, working safely at all times.
  • Operate mobile plant equipment in a safe, considerate manner, ensuring that the correct mandatory PPE is in place, complying with the site safety rules and challenging others who do not adhere to this.

Quality, OH&S and Environmental:


  • Understand what is required to produce the best possible regenerated carbon and what to do if quality is not being maintained.
  • Carry out various quality tests of the finished product and inform the Team Leader of the results, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Ensure that the finished products are kept in the correct areas and have the correct labels, preventing cross contamination of product or equipment.
  • Be aware of, and comply with all relevant aspects of the company Quality, Environmental and OH&S policies, and standards (ISO 9001,14001 and 45001

Housekeeping:


  • Take equal responsibility for keeping all areas of the plant clean to the highest possible standard.
  • Clean any areas that have been worked in, on completion of work, performing daily housekeeping tasks including keeping the building, stores and exterior areas tidy, keeping welfare facilities clean and tidy and the surrounding areas free of potential contamination.

Personal development:


  • Continue to learn new skills and multiskill where possible, providing flexibility and adaptability to further strengthen the shift operating team.

Plant/Process Improvements:


  • Work in a way that actively seeks improvement to both the plant and the process and bring these ideas forward to the management team in consultation with the Team Leader.
  • Play a key role in the development of new processes and products and fully support and actively participate in any trials.

Communication and Reporting:


  • Provide a full and concise hand over at the end of every shift.
  • Ensure clear and accurate reporting of product quality is delivered on time.

What we're looking for:


  • Experience of shift work in a manufacturing / production environment
  • Ability to work to a shift pattern of four x 12 hours days (6am6pm), four days off, four x 12 hours nights (6pm6am).
  • FLT licence is desirable (not essential)


  • Basic IT skills

  • MS Word and Excel
  • Experience of data entry
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative in a fastpaced environment
  • A hardworking team player who enjoys working with others to get the job done to the highest standard
