    Job summary

    This is a dual role job comprising a role as an Out of Hours Nurse Practitioner delivering direct clinical care to patients, and a Site Manager providing senior nursing leadership of the hospital site.

    Working as part of a team, the Nurse Practitioner/Site Manager team delivers a 24/7 service across long days and night shifts.

    The post holder will provide professional and advanced clinical nursing support andadvice to the junior doctors, nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team within LUHFTundertaking presentations as required.

    To provide senior nursing and managerial support and advice to all clinical areaswithin the Trust, and to undertake advanced patient assessment and clinicalinterventions, which may include prescribing.

    To participate in and co-ordinate the Trust's Emergency Response Teams to fire,security alerts, cardiac arrests and other clinical emergencies.

    To be responsible for the co-ordination and first line "Management of Major and Serious Untoward Incidents", as required at Broadgreen Hospital (BGH).

    Responsibility 'out of hours' for the operational management of the Trust (BGH),implementing process and procedures as required and providing support and adviceto all Trust employees, as the senior nurse manager on site.

    Contributing to the implementation of the Acute Illness In-reach Service.

    Main duties of the job

    Clinical:

  • Support junior doctors and oversee the Out of Hours Safety Huddles and MET huddles.
  • Be an ALS Provider and participate in the MET team.
  • Traige jobs on Trust Handover and by bleep.
  • Examine, order investigations, manage, and prescribe where appropriate for a variety of undifferentiated conditions.
  • Provide clinical skills such as ABG, cannulation, ECG, catheterisation etc.
  • To ensure the safe inter-site transfer of all patients who are transferred due to clinical deterioration.
  • Operate the Acute Illness In-reach Service.
  • Deliver peer education and training.
  • Spend up to 50% of working time delivering clinical care and supporting ward areas.
  • SITE MANAGEMENT:

  • Provide senior nursing leadership as a first point of contact out of hours.
  • Work with matrons and other leadership roles to ensure safe delivery of services.
  • Work within policy to ensure safe staffing of all clinical areas.
  • Undertake audit activities.
  • Liaise with relevant teams to ensure effective patient flow.
  • Ensure effective delivery of Major incident and Business Continuity functions.

Insertion of peripheral mid lines Administration of IV Drugs Management of Central Lines, PICC Lines, 2021 Male catheterisation CPR and Advanced Life Support To work closely with Pain Control Team and Critical Care OutreachTeam (CCOT) including `out of hours` support for patients withepidural infusions, patient controlled analgesic (PCA) and to providesupport in the management of critical care patients. Advise nursing staff re drug availability, usage and refer to thepharmacist as needed Review patient falls Escort critically ill patients to other care or diagnostic areas.
