The PRU:

This is a multi-site Pupil Referral Unit, based in the London Borough of Southwark.

The PRU support young people, aged who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

The pupils are referred to the PRU as they have either been temporarily or permanently excluded from their mainstream schooling, or they have not secured a placement in a school and have been temporarily referred to the PRU in the meantime.


Who are we looking for:


You would thrive working in this PRU if you are someone who is reliable, committed, can take initiative and is pro-active in the way you work, can remain calm under pressure and is resilient when faced with challenging behaviour.


If you have worked in a similar role or have experience working as a sports coach, teaching assistant, youth worker or residential care worker with vulnerable pupils who may have Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) or other SEN, this will be highly advantageous.


What the role involves:


  • Each day will be different and exciting, bringing new challenges and opportunities for development and acquiring new skills.
  • The role would require you to be flexible and adaptable.
  • You will be based in and out of the classroom, providing support to individual pupils.
  • You will be the learner's role model and companion assisting them with learning and therapy sessions.
  • You may be required to provide wholeclass support in lessons, with guidance from the class teacher.
  • You will help maintain the learning environments and assist with the administration.

Criteria:


  • Experience in a similar role working with challenging behaviour
  • Available fulltime and to start immediately.
  • Team Teach, Price Training and/or physical restraint training (highly desirable but not essential)
