The ACCG is an established provider of Health and Social Care services based in Manchester.

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, responsible and caring Well-Being Worker to join our supportive and committed team.


The role involves providing support and care for Service Users in the Day Centre and community setting, which will be in the Service Users own home.

A driving licence which includes category D1 vehicles is mandatory as will be expected to drive minibuses when needed.

*MUST have at least 6 months paid UK experience in the care sector
*MUST have a good level of English (written & verbal) skills
*MUST be happy to provide personal care


If you have a DBS that is registered with the online update service, we can offer you work more quickly.

You must be able to provide 5 years references and either have all mandatory training in date, or be prepared to complete this prior to starting your assignment.

JOB TITLE:
Driver & Well - Being Worker


CONDITIONS:

ACCOUNTABLE TO:
Chief Executive


JOB PURPOSE:
To provide health, social and physical care, to service users under supervision. To support organised health, social and recreational activities organised for service users for their well-being.


Principal Tasks Include:


Service Users

  • Support, assist and prompt service users with their activities of daily living (ADLS) i.e. bathing/showering eating/feeding, mobility, personal hygiene and grooming, toilet hygiene dressing, hair washing appearance, etc.
  • Support and supervise service users at meals times as required.
  • Help to serve meals.
  • Support service users to develop and maintain social skills and maintain their dignity.
  • Ensure all personal care tasks are carried out with respect for privacy and dignity and in line with the needs, wishes and preferences of the individual as defined in the care plan.
  • Escort service users on shopping trips and outings.
  • Listen to service users who wish to talk and also encourage them into conversation/discussion on world events.
  • Check with the Service Manager before giving any information on service users health status.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Individual service user's Care
Plans and reporting to the Service Manager.


  • Observe and report changing patterns in service user's physical and/or mental state.
  • Report potentially hazardous situations to the Service Manager.
  • Respect the Service User's culture and religious belief.
  • Organise and participate in all forms of social and recreational programmes involving service users.
  • Facilitate and encourage educational and cultural activities.
  • Dealing with the initial reception of visitors to the group, as appropriate.

Risk

  • Report damaged furniture and equipment to the Service Manager.
  • Maintain close observation of Service Users who are known to wonder.
  • Minimise the risk of trips, slips and falls by wiping up spills and the removal of potential hazards.
  • Contribute to the individual risk assessment by maintaining a safe environment.
  • Participate in the management of risk, observing Health and Safety regulations and undertaking fire drills.
  • Communicate with the Service Manager over issues arising within the ACCG.

Transport

  • Drive ACCG minibus to pick up/drop off service users or act as escort to the driver on minibus.
  • Collect members from their homes; transport them to and from the centre safely ensuring that they enter their premises before departure.
  • Facilitate members to board/disembark from the minibus safely.
  • Ensure that members are seated and that their seat belts are securely fastened. (There are to be no standing passengers).
  • Deliver meals to members who are unable to attend the centre as per their request.
  • Undertake tasks which require driving during the hours 9.00am to 5pm as required.
  • Undertake occasional negotiable tasks outside the hours of 9.00am
  • 5pm, providing reasonable notice is given.
  • Ensure that the minibus is kept clean.
  • Each week check the minibus and maintain adequate levels of oils and water (engine oil, brake fluids, clutch fluids, radiator coolant, and windscreen washer).
  • Ensure that the minibus always contains fuel.
  • Promptly report to the manager any faults/defects (engine, electrics, passenger compartment, body or wheels) which have arisen to the minibus.
