    Description

    The role:

    To manage our boutique charity shop in Chingford, to achieve sales and profit targets and raise the profile and awareness of Kith & Kids through marketing initiatives.You will provide effective management and motivation to the shop team, including volunteers and our service users with autism and learning disabilities (who attend our Employment & Life Skills Project and are supported by trained volunteers).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Being responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the shop.
    • Maintaining accurate sale and expense records and to bank at regular intervals.
    • Guiding, inspiring, and engaging a group of volunteers.
    • Attracting, recruiting and training volunteers for the shop.
    • Ensuring shop is sufficiently staffed with volunteers each day.
    • Organising and running creative fundraising events for the shop.
    • Ensuring top quality donations to the shop, making sure you hit targets and keep it running at a profit.
    • Building relationships with the local community, recognising potential growth for volunteering and increasing donations.

    ·Leading by example and getting stuck in (For example, with stock processing - sorting, steaming, pricing and displaying a high volume of donations in attractive displays).

    ·Identify products to sell online and explore other opportunities to sell online to maximise income stream.

    ·Implementing effective processes to support the smooth running of the store/stock room.

    • Adhering to Kith & Kids principles and values, including the promotion of diversity.
    • Ensuring all relevant measures regarding health & safety are implemented and observed.
    • Ensuring a strong customer focus is adopted and practiced by all shop staff and volunteers.

    Person Specification

    Essential Key Skills, Experience and Abilities:

    • Proven experience as retail manager
    • Significant leadership qualities and experience.
    • Ability to build, retain, develop and motivate a team.
    • Strong drive to achieve results through others.
    • Ability to delegate, coach and listen.
    • Team spirit and friendly and approachable manner.
    • Ability to manage time under conflicting priorities.
    • Ability to demonstrate resilience to the everyday pressures that come with the role.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • High level of motivation, enthusiasm and a sense of fun.
    • Open and adaptable to change and able to support others through it.
    • Commercial awareness and judgement.
    • Ability to establish and maintain successful retail processes and merchandising.
    • Ability to understand and interpret basic financial reports.
    • IT literacy and numeracy skills. (Using email systems and online resources; use and understand basic spreadsheets and word processing packages. Be aware of and be open to the role of social networking and ecommerce.)
    • Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles.

    Desirable

    • Having a driving licence and (access to) a car
    • Experience working in charity sector
    • Experience with autism and/or learning disabilities
    • Experience with EPOS system (with Integrated Retail Gift Aid functionality)
