    Job Description:

    Bluestone Planning are a small but successful Planning Consultancy, based in Oxfordshire, and are looking to strengthen the team with an in-house Principal Ecologist to support existing ongoing and new works.

    This role will join a successful team to support existing Planning, urban design and neighbourhood plan Projects, from new enquiries and referrals from existing clients across the South East, South West and Central England.

    We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented individual to take a leading role in the provision of ecology services across the South East, South West and Central England. Helping to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain and ensure Nutrient Neutrality and the provision of specialist advice on a variety of planning applications ranging from minor to strategic.

    Our projects range from areas of Special Scientific Interest, Special Areas of Conservation, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and national parks, to urban cities and rural towns, we can offer you a diverse and rewarding workload in attractive surroundings.

    This is an exciting time to be joining Bluestone as out first in house ecology service, with ambitious service plans aimed at improving our clients' journeys through planning.

    With a degree in ecology or relevant discipline and at least three years' relevant experience, you will extensive knowledge and understanding of ecology and biodiversity legislation and good practice, alongside habitat management/restoration and the application of nutrient neutrality principles and biodiversity net gain. Great communication and sound presentation skills together with the ability to negotiate with developers and work effectively as part of a team will be key to your success in this role.

    Requirements

    We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate a full-time role but job share or part time would be considered. Providing they meet the requirements of the role and service. Ideally someone who would like to help grow our internal offering of ecology services.

    Whilst our office is based in Wantage in Oxfordshire, Bluestone Planning works on a high trust basis. There will of course be the requirement to work outside of normal hours in order to support the various projects, including evenings and weekends and travel to visit various groups across the predominantly the south of England.

    Experience in preparing and presenting evidence at examination or public inquiries would be distinct advantage.
