Temporary Analyst - London, United Kingdom - Energy Aspects Ltd

    Default job background
    Description

Energy Aspects has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Analyst to join our growing long-term team, based in London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable Senior Power Analyst to play a central role in our long-term team, predominantly focusing on power markets, as well as assisting in broader market analysis as required.

This position will be responsible for leading our fundamental analysis of power markets.

The candidate will ideally have experience modelling international power markets, focusing on the evolving role of natural gas, renewables, nuclear and coal.

Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining the models, using data from multiple sources and of differing quality, that underpin our long-term research service.

Tasks will include the design, creation, testing and refining of power supply models that will reflect both existing power stacks, and the evolution of capacity coming from the energy transition.

This will entail both working closely with the head of the long-term service to develop the skills and knowledge to present to clients and answer questions, and building collaborative relationships with members of the wider business to align your long-term analysis with our existing services.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our end-product and are meticulous about ensuring a high degree of accuracy across our services and you will need to share this commitment.

You must be able to work independently, as well as be capable of planning and prioritising to achieve success.

In exchange, we offer excellent remuneration, a high-performance culture, with challenging and exciting work.
Building out medium and long-term demand models for power.
Building out long-term power stack models for global supply.
Developing and verifying levelised long-term cost for new and existing power generation technologies.
Contributing power analysis for various EA reports (long-term, medium-term, monthly email alerts and ad-hoc reports).
Establishing a comprehensive network of industry contacts and experts.
Liaising with short-term power, gas and emissions teams on relevant market issues and policy developments.
Producing presentation material for long- and medium-term presentation, on power fundamentals.
Dealing with client queries specifically, including participating in client presentations and workshops.
Fundamental modelling experience (building and maintaining complex models, working with statistical tools, stack modelling and regression modelling).

Strong analytical and data-handling skills, including being able to select and use the most appropriate software for a task.

Good technical written skills, preferably including writing reports for a non-technical audience.

The ability to meet deadlines and work effectively with others, including colleagues in different time zones, to deliver timely analysis will be critical.

Attention to detail is a prerequisite for this role in both handling data and written English.
    Basic Python programming skills.

Founded in 2012, we are an independent research consultancy that has enjoyed phenomenal growth since our inception, and we have very ambitious plans to continue our upwards growth trajectory.

We are passionately committed to providing indispensable and industry-leading short, medium and long-term analysis, and forecasts of the energy markets, that helps our clients trade, invest, finance and plan.

Energy Aspects prides itself in the quality of its work and draws on a wide range of competencies to derive its views.

The company is staffed with experts in upstream production, trading and econometric forecasting.

It has always maintained a key focus on the geopolitics of the energy industry and the impacts they can have in shaping global markets.

The company has in recent years acquired several firms to enhance its position in energy market consultancy including Medley Global Advisors (2020), OilX and INAS bringing additional expertise in macro trends, oil market data and paper positioning into the group.

The company is also growing its offering to clients on the energy transition providing the tradeable insights on long-term trends.

Here, you'll have the opportunity to participate in activities, from running and five-a-side football to joining our lunch gatherings and brand-new Chess club.
