Applications are invited for Bank General Practitioners at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.The successful candidates will be based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, supporting cover for the Division of Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services, working across Wards 27 and 21b which are GP led step down and rehabilitation wards.
supporting patients to improve their function alongside their planning for discharge home or other place of care.The GP step down wards have an exceptional team of multidisciplinary staff who will work together to facilitate the safe and timely admission, rehabilitation and discharge of patients.
The GP will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and management of the patient on the ward, supported by the wider multi-disciplinary team, ensuring patients treatment and management plans are updated daily, and respond appropriately to any changes in patient's clinical condition in line with the Trusts escalation policy.

The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.
We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.
The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.
The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients.

The GPs are supported by a team of Junior Medical Staff and Advanced Clinical Practitioners, alongside the Ward Manager.
An MDT comprising Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Pharmacy staff support the Nursing Team.The Team have a Divisional Matron and Head of Nursing / Healthcare Professions who provide professional leadership and monitor the wards patient safety and quality agenda.
Going forward the GPs will be supported within the Division by the Associate Medical Director from a leadership and governance perspective.
Hold appropriate medical qualification to practice medicine in the UKMB ChB or equivalent certificate of prescribed/equivalent training in General Practice
Inclusion on the Performers List with no restrictions to practice
Experience of medical, surgical, elderly care, rehabilitation and mental health.
Over six months' experience of working independently in General Practice
Understanding of the principles of evidence-based medicine and rational prescribing
Ability to take a risk-based approach to support discharge planning
Awareness of NHS plans and ongoing developments in healthcare.
